The Parish Council held a Fete in May 2011, the first for many years. The weather was not great, cool with light drizzle at times. However most will agree that for our first attempt, it was quite successful. The Bennet Arms provided a Beer Tent and BBQ with music by John Bird. We had several stalls with most local organisations taking part. Tea and cakes where provided by the Mouse Lane Group. We had various competitions, bowling for a Pig [not a real one] welly wanging and a knobbly knees competition. Several hundred attended. The Fete was opened by David Ruffley MP. Although we had no budget, we managed to raise £220.00 for the Air Ambulance.
We hope to hold another Fete next year on Monday June 4th 2012. This will be on the Queens Diamond Jubilee weekend. There will be more news of this event later. On the evening of that day, we will be holding the lighting of the Beacon at 8.30 at the School, followed by fireworks.
